SAUVAGE is a full grain aniline leather tanned in a historic leather producing region of Italy using English hides. The century old tannery prepares this leather article by applying a hot wax, then turning the hides in old wooden tanning drums overnight to soften the natural fibers and impart it with a remarkable suppleness. The leather is then upholstered in its "crust form" on the furniture. After the furniture is made our leather artisans apply a multi-step hand rubbed Patina using the same waxes and pigments used in Italy. Performing this process on the actual finished piece allows our artisans to develop a unique Patina composition, and overall essence that creates a piece of furniture with uniqueness, character and style that matches the individual who's selecting it. Each frame is precisely cut and hand assembled using kiln dried lumber. Double dowels are utilized in all structural parts to form sturdy, long lasting joints. To complete construction and add stability to the frame, large precisely cut corner blocks are positioned at each corner where the greatest stress occurs using both glues and screws.
